Trey Graham
Trey Graham, senior pastor of First Baptist Church Melissa, is a pastor, columnist, author, and speaker. Trey began his ministry in Melissa in May of 2002 and believes that God has called our church to impact this community with the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Under Trey’s leadership, First Melissa has seen tremendous growth numerically, financially, and in terms of community impact.
Rev. Graham is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduating from West Point and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Leadership, Trey served as a U.S. Army Field Artillery Officer. Trey later earned a Master of Divinity degree with Biblical Languages at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Trey is the founder and director of Faith Walk Ministries, a leadership training organization that seeks to develop leaders of character.
Trey is the author of Lessons for the Journey, an inspirational guide for living out the Christian life in today's world. Published by America House in 2001, Lessons for the Journey will encourage you and challenge you to follow Christ faithfully while you travel through the journey of life.
Trey's newest book, Light for the Journey, was released by America House in 2004. The back cover text of Light for the Journey reads in part, "Through inspirational stories and emotional anecdotes, Trey demonstrates God's constant participation in the spiritual growth and maturation of His children. His ability to tell powerful stories will touch your heart and encourage your soul. As a columnist, Trey's newspaper articles have been published in the Editorial Sections of the Dallas Morning News, the Amarillo Globe-Times, the McKinney Courier-Gazette, the McKinney Messenger, the Sherman Herald-Democrat, the Blue Ridge Tribune, and the Beaumont Enterprise, along with numerous guest columns published in the Religion Section of the Dallas Morning News. In addition, Trey writes a weekly editorial column for the Religion Section of the McKinney Courier-Gazette.
In addition, Trey has had articles published in Christian magazines across the United States and Canada, including Bible Advocate, The Evangelical Baptist, Plain Truth, Christian Courier, Alive!, Light, DFW Heritage Newspaper, Worldwide Challenge, Fellowship Focus, The Christian Index, Proclaim, LeaderLife and Growing Churches. Trey has also had numerous articles published by Christian websites on the Internet and served as editor and ghostwriter for books by several leading Christian teachers and authors.
As a speaker, Trey has been invited to teach Christian leadership to pastor's conferences, prison chaplain conferences, university chapel services, college honor societies, school assemblies, prison inmate education programs, Fellowship of Christian Athlete camps, and local churches. In April of 2004, Trey was the guest speaker at the 10 Commandments Texas Rally dinner honoring Chief Justice Roy Moore and Ambassador Alan Keyes.
As part of his ministry in Melissa, Trey serves as the chaplain for the Melissa Police Department.
Trey and his wife, Bretta, have four small children.
